All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan announced during tonight’s AEW Revolution event that William Regal, who appeared after the match between Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson, has officially signed with AEW. Regal had a hand in both men’s careers at an early stage, including training Bryan Danielson at one point and even having a short feud with Moxley in his early Dean Ambrose run in 2011 at FCW.
Prior to his release from the company back on January 5th, the Blackpool Brawler Mr Regal was the on-screen General Manager for the WWE NXT brand and the WWE Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting. It’s unclear what role AEW + Regal will have at the moment, outside of being involved with Moxley & Danielson.
The now AEW William Regal, a sure-fire Hall of Famer, had been with WWE since the Summer of 2000 and was most known for playing the British Pompous Character but was always one of the best wrestlers in the company, and was often the on-screen General Manager. Highly underrated.
Regal had been the on-screen General Manager of NXT from July 2014 until the NXT 2.0 relaunch in September 2021. Regal retired from in-ring competition in 2013, last wrestling Cesaro on the Christmas 2013 episode of the program.
