On April 22, 2021, ESL Gaming stated there will be some updates regarding their Counter Strike: Global Offensive competitions. Other updates involve both events in Q2 as well as Q3’s ESL One Cologne. However, ESL will continue to provide updates to inform the esports community.
DreamHack Masters Spring Update:
Will take place between April 29th and May 9th, as a global online tournament.
Intel® Extreme Masters Summer Update:
In June, will be an online-only format as well.
Both tournaments were originally scheduled to be in-person competitions. Taking place in a controlled environment in studio. However, ESL and DreamHack’s want to assure the safety of the esport community and the crews that would have attended.
July’s ESL One Cologne Tournament & Q3 Update:
The public doors will be closed for public attendance, due to global health restrictions. This will be the first in-person ESL competition and will be handled with evaluation. Tournaments after Cologne will continue to follow this restriction and format as the latest health guidance is provided.
ESL continues to collaborate with teams and partners to provide the experience for esports community. This year has provided ESL with record numbers for broadcasting. They will continue to delve into all options advised to assist them in bringing back live events by November.
