When Finn Balor made his return to WWE NXT it shocked the wrestling world. Now the question is where does Finn Balor go from here?
Coming back to NXT is one thing, but NXT has grown so much since Finn moved to the main roster. Balor may have been the best NXT had ever seen,
but it has been almost three years since his last match there.
With Finn heading back to “broadway,” as he puts it, there’s a lot of things for him to accomplish and prove. Finn’s main roster run didn’t go how anyone really expected, but now he gets the opportunity to remind the world who he is. The NXT roster is stacked with talent and leaves so many possibilities of feuds for Finn to enter into. Balor is back to his “old ways” so the NXT roster is in for a bit of a shock.
Before we take a look at five possible feuds for Finn, I wanted to list a couple of honorable mentions that would be interesting to see! Those being Keith Lee, Kushida, Eddie Dennis, Tyler Bate and Travis Banks.
Now let’s get into the feuds I believe the NXT Universe will most likely see.
5. Johnny Gargano
Let’s start off with the obvious feud because as we saw two weeks ago on NXT Johnny Gargano has done something to piss Finn off. Johnny Gargano has been the heart and soul of NXT since he arrived, which I think really gets under Finn’s skin.
Finn has laid out the challenge and Johnny Wrestling never backs down from a fight. With Finn sending Gargano to the hosptial, it is only a matter of time before Gargano has some sort of response or retaliation. NXT has started the set up for this feud well, even if we still don’t have real answers for why Finn beat up Gargano.
For Finn’s first feud back, there’s no better place to start than with Johnny. The heart of NXT’s present versus the heart of NXT’s past.
4. Matt Riddle
Bro! Come on, there’s no denying that this feud would be entertaining. NXT really has something in Riddle and a feud with Balor could put him on the map.
Finn on the other hand already is the talk of the wrestling business. If Finn’s promo this past week is anything to go by, he really isn’t a fan of the mentality of the NXT locker room. I can only imagine he would take issue with Riddle. This feud would be hard hitting and one I think the Demon would come out for. The experience levels both men possess is incredible and would be a true test for Balor with this NXT roster.
3. Pete Dunne
The longest reigning NXT Champion in NXT history versus the longest reigning champion of WWE’s modern era. It writes itself honestly. We know how good both of these men are and we know all of their accomplishments, but we haven’t seen them face off in a WWE ring. So let’s change that.
Finn and Pete have wrestled in a lot of the same companies to get to this point in their careers of WWE. Pete wrestles a very grizzled, strong style type of way. While Finn wrestles a more high flying, technical style. Pete can adapt to all types of wrestling, as can Finn. So this feud could be pretty evenly matched up.
Yes, Pete currently has his hands full with Killian Dain and Damian Priest, but after he handles his business he’ll need something to do in NXT. Feuding with Finn Balor could be the next thing for Pete, but if its not this feud will happen down the line.
2. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott
Finn has all eyes on him and what his next move will be, so if Isaiah Scott wants to catch lightning in a bottle and get people talking a match with Finn would do the trick. This feud would be a true test for Isaiah and would give Finn more of a chance to get acclimated to the NXT Roster.
Swerve is so damn talented, but his talent hasn’t truly been showcased on NXT yet. Big time matches and feuds make or break a superstar, currently in NXT that big time feud or match seems to be with Finn Balor. If Swerve wants to make a name for himself, what better way to do that then beating Balor?
1. Bronson Reed
Finn hasn’t faced anyone like Bronson Reed in WWE, at least for a while. Bronson may have the size advantage, but Finn has a little more speed. Finn’s quickness could really help him in a feud with Reed. On the other hand Reed can do some impressive things in the squared circle.
This is my wild card pick. Reed has been given some TV time recently and it seems that those in charge of NXT really enjoy his work. Why wouldn’t they, Reed is an excellent talent that could become a huge part of the brand in the coming years.
With Finn Balor’s new attitude there is really no telling how any of these feuds could go, but they’d be entertaining. Wrestling someone like Finn would puts eyes on the NXT product, meaning people get to see new wrestlers that they haven’t before. Finn returning to NXT is a positive for everyone involved. No matter who he feuds with, the prince is back and the NXT roster should look out.
