TWM NEWS IS SAD TO REPORT OF THE PASSING OF FORMER WCW WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION, TOM ZENK AT THE AGE OF 59.

    The Star Tribune in Minneapolis, Minnesota published an obituary today on the former WWF and WCW star, saying that he passed away on Saturday, December 9 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Tom Zenk began wrestling in the AWA in 1984, before moving to the IWA based in Montreal, Canada. It was there where he formed the Can-Am Connection with Rick Martel.

    The two moved to the WWF in 1986, appearing at WrestleMania III beating Don Muraco and Bob Orton, Sr. His other notable success came in WCW, where he was their first Television Champion, following their rebrand from the National Wrestling Alliance. Real name Thomas Erwin Zenk, he also teamed with ‘Flyin’ Brian Pillman to win the WCW United States Tag Team Titles. He also wrestled in All Japan Pro Wrestling on and off between 1986 and 1989.

    Zenk also attended the now infamous Robbinsdale High School, boasting such alumni as Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Nikita Koloff, John Nord and Barry Darsow.
