FROM SUMMERSLAM TO A SUPER SHOWDOWN IN SMASH, IT’S TIME TO RATTLE THROUGH THE WEEK IN WRESTLING WITH THE FRIDAY FIFTEEN!

    • WWE has done a rather masterful job at building WWE Summerslam, at least in the eyes of this viewer. I personally can’t wait for the card, featuring many matches I am really looking forward to.

    • Floated this on my Twitter during RAW this past Monday, what if Reigns ends up walking out of the event as the Universal Champion with help from The Shield?

    • Congratulations to Akira Tozawa for winning the Cruiserweight Championship. After seeing him perform live two nights in a row last week, and feeling the crowd solidly behind him, part of me wondered if he was getting a run with that title.  Now we know.

This picture was taken this year. It symbolizes my decision to get clean from an addiction to prescription drugs. A problem I kept hidden from my wife, my family, my friends, everyone. It has haunted me for almost 3 years, ever since I dislocated my knee cap. It really started to spiral out of control this past year and a half. I almost lost everything. Finally I decided I couldn’t keep hurting my wife or myself this way and I was going to get my life back. This picture was my way of making my beautiful wife laugh, during one of the most difficult times in our life. Without her, I would be lost. She is the strongest, toughest woman I know. She has been my rock and my reason for fighting. She has been with me every step of the way and I’ll say it again, I would truly be lost without her. It feels so incredibly wonderful to have my life back and to focus on what truly matters. Life has never been better, and everyday is a blessing. I wanted to write this as a symbol of hope, to anyone who is battling addiction. It can strike anybody, in any place, at any time. It does not discriminate. It can and will take everything from you. If you are struggling, please don’t give up hope. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, you are not alone. I have your back. #thereisalwayshope

    • Kudos to Mike Bennett who recently shared on Twitter and Instagram an inspirational story of defeating an addicting to painkillers. Addiction comes in many forms, and does not discriminate.  If you think you need help, remember there’s always someone willing to listen.

    • Very proud of everyone at Smash Wrestling for their work on Super Showdown V. The entire event has been archived in their Smash On Demand service, and comes highly recommended.

    • GFW really didn’t have much choice to strip Alberto El Patron of the Heavyweight Championship. And considering all that happened, few feel sorry for him.  Question remains though: why the hell did they wait so long?  He was essentially cleared of wrongdoing and then was stripped.  If that was always going to be the decision, why wait?

    • This year’s G1 Climax is being hailed the best ever. It’s hard to argue, isn’t it?  WrestleKingdom is already shaping up as must see television.

    • Props to Progress Wrestling for two great shows in the United States over the weekend. Extra props for their respectful and professional handling of the Pete Dunne injury, which they dealt with gracefully.

    • Failed Money In The Bank cash-ins are not all bad. But the way in which we arrived at Baron Corbin’s certainly is.  First of all the opportunity seemed to dawn on him very slowly, in spite of the fact he used the very briefcase as a weapon some seconds before.  Also, John Cena gained from it (he didn’t need to), and Jinder Mahal looked like a face (he wasn’t supposed to) with a crafty roll-up win.  Having Corbin cash in after a Nakamura title victory, only to be thwarted would have surely moved the needle more.

    • Flip Gordon: good at wrestling.

    • Growing rumblings from the WWE Universe that Nia Jax is a dangerous worker. Not sure I agree, honestly.

    • Almost time for the Mae Young Classic. Really looking forward to this tournament.  My latest feature, on one of the participants Shayna Baszler, was very popular amongst fans online.  Safe to say she has the pre-installed fan base to be a big name in the WWE in the coming years.

    • David Lagana recently released the documentary “Galloway: End Of Independents”, which follows Drew McIntyre through his final three indie dates before he returned to WWE. The whole thing is available on YouTube and comes highly recommended.  In fact, any work from Lagana comes highly recommended.

    • I was a WWE kid. As I have previously written, I am from the Toronto, Canada area, and World Wrestling Entertainment (nee Federation) had a tremendous foothold there.  I watched other wrestling, sure.  But nothing was as readily accessible, or as high on the priority list, as Vince McMahon’s crew.   As I get older and have the Network at my disposal, I go back often and watch old WCW Pay-Per-View’s and events.  What is abundantly clear is how much I missed some tremendous in-ring work.  A true joy to catch up.

    • Of course a big part of the NWA/WCW heritage is “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. All of my positive thoughts are being sent to the sixteen-time World Champion right now as he battles severe medical issues.  For my money, the absolute best to ever step foot in the ring.  Flair is a legend in every sense of the word.
