The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
A stealth first-person shooter that came out on the original Xbox and Windows in 2004, this game was a prequel to The Chronicles of Riddick movie which came out the same year.
Side note, the movie was….not so great.
Featuring outstanding graphics and great stealth sequences, the game was so much fun to play and even allowed you to make use of the “eyeshine” that Vin Diesel used to such great effect in the movies which gave you the ability to stalk your enemies from the dark before dispatching them.
Vin Diesel was involved in the game’s development and provided this voice for his character unlike so many other movie-based games from around the same time.
The game was a little short and is included here for one reason. There are three movies relating to the character of Riddick. We got a game tied to the worst movie of the three. Imagine what we could get if there was a sequel to one of the good movies.
Yes, there was an expanded remake a few years later, but having watched the most recent movie recently, it made me want more stories from this universe.
