The Punisher

Two movie-based games in a list of games to get brought back, who would have thought. Remembered fondly by gamers of the right age, this was great for slightly different reasons than the aforementioned Chronicles of Riddick game.

This was a loose movie tie-in game for the Tom Jane movie that released around the same time. Although a little cheesy, the movie is worth revisiting too

A 3rd person shooter, this game is remembered for the high levels of violence which although accurate according to the comics, had never been shown before in video game format. These came in the way of torture sequences in which the player would then execute the enemy at the end of, using various bits of the environment to do so.

I don’t believe Marvel would make a game as violent as this again, so here’s my pitch, ramp up the fighting elements (The fighting engine used in Sleeping Dogs would work perfectly), rather than violence. Then re-skin the game with the characters and costumes from the Netflix tv series.

This could be the next entry into the much anticipated Marvel Gaming Universe which hasn’t really kicked off. The original game featured cameos from Marvel characters including Iron Man and Nick Fury. This could take more inspiration from Netflix and include Daredevil as a future character to explore. Spider-man was so good, but this could be a different way to expand what should be an amazing universe.
