One of the most iconic types of matches in TNA/Impact Wrestling, the Full Metal Mayhem match is the promoter’s version of the Tables, ladders and Chairs match made famous by WWE and has the stipulation “anything metal is legal”.

    Over the course of 16 editions, the combat has known a variant in which the winner was determined by settlement and another in which the winner is the one who climbs to the top of a ladder and manages to capture a belt or a contract.

    In the first ever match of its kind, Abyss defeated Jeff Hardy at Against All Odds 2005 to earn a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

    The Full Metal Mayhem match between champion Josh Alexander and Bully Ray for the Impact World Championship , at Hard do Kill this Friday, will be the 17th in history.

    Against All Odds 2005; Full Metal Mayhem match:
    Jeff Hardy vs. Abyss

    At the previous pay per view , Final Resolution, Abyss attacked Jeff Hardy after the match between the latter and Scott Hall.

    On the January 21 episode of Impact! , Abyss attacked Hardy again , having thrown him onto a table, which broke. A week later, TNA began advertising the debut of the Full Metal Mayhem match, which would pit Hardy and Abyss at Against All Odds .

    On the February 4 episode, it was announced that the winner would receive an opportunity at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.


    Sacrifice 2006: Full Metal Mayhem match
    for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship:
    Christian Cage (c) vs. abyss

    After coming out on top in his rivalry with Rhino, Abyss challenged Christian Cage for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a Six Sides of Steel match taking place at Lockdown during the March 18 episode of Impact! .
    A week later, James Mitchell and Alex Shelley chased Christian Cage ‘s wife with a camcorder.

    And on Impact! On April 1, Abyss and Christian Cage engaged in a brawl, after James Mitchell showed a new video of him and Alex Shelley chasing Christian ‘s wife .
    The following week, Christian Cage attacked Abyss and accepted the challenge to face The Monster at Lockdown. On the April 20 episode, three days from Lockdown, Abyss returned the favor and brutally attacked Christian .

    At Lockdown, Christian Cage retained the title after an Unpreitter onto a pile of pushpins. However, after the match ended, the champion was brutally attacked by Abyss , which led to the scheduling of another match between the two for Sacrifice, in this case a Full Metal Mayhem match.


    Victory Road 2008; Six Man Tag Team Full Metal Mayhem match:
    Kurt Angle and Team 3D (Brother Devon and Brother Ray) vs. AJ Styles, Christian Cage and Rhino

    On the February 14, 2008 episode of Impact! , TNA staged a wedding between Kurt Angle’s wife Karen and AJ Styles, although Angle and Karen were still married, with the separation taking place almost a month later on the March 13 episode.

    Meanwhile, Angle tried to reconcile with Karen, but she refused her ex-husband’s request, who got carried away by jealousy and attacked AJ Styles .

    On the May 29 episode, authority figure Jim Cornette announced a match between Kurt Angle and AJ Styles for Slammiversary . Despite having suffered a serious neck injury, Angle appeared in the match, but Styles achieved victory after a Styles Clash . However, Angle and Tomko attacked Styles after the duel.

    Four days later, on the June 12 episode, Angle beat Styles in a Lumberjack match before a brawl took place between Kurt Angle ‘s group and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) and AJ Styles , Christian Cage and Rhino, which led to the scheduling of a Six Man Tag Team Full Metal Mayhem match between the two factions for Victory Road .


    Bound for Glory 2009
    Full Metal Mayhem match for the TNA and IWGP Tag Team Championships:
    The Main Event Mafia (Booker T and Scott Steiner) (TNA Champions) vs. The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams) (IWGP Champions) vs. Team 3D (Brother Devon and Brother Ray) vs. Beer Money, Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode)

    At Lockdown, Team 3D defeated Beer Money to capture the TNA World Tag Team Championship and retain the IWGP Tag Team Championship.

    Meanwhile, the duo consisting of Brother Ray and Brother Devon announced the holding of the Team 3D Invitational Tag Team Tournament, a tournament between eight teams whose winners received a trophy, a check for $100,000 and an opportunity for the TNA World Tag Team Championship.

    On the way to the final, Beer Money eliminated Lethal Consequences (Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed) and Eric Young & Jethro Holliday [Trevor Murdoch], while British Invasion eliminated The Latin American Xchange (Homicide and Hernandez) and Suicide & Amazing Red .

    At the following pay-per-view , Victory Road , Booker T and Scott Steiner of The Main Event Mafia defeated Beer Money to capture the TNA World Tag Team Championship , while Team 3D retained the IWGP Tag Team Championship from The British Invasion .

    Meanwhile, British Invasion captured the IWGP Tag Team Championship and defended it with a victory over Beer Money at Hard Justice, an event in which Booker T and Scott Steiner defeated Team 3D to retain the TNA World Tag Team Championship .

    At the ensuing pay-per-view , No Surrender, Beer Money teamed up with Team 3D to defeat both The Main Event Mafia and The British Invasion in a Lethal Lockdown match.
    Meanwhile, a match between the four teams for the TNA and IWGP tag team titles was scheduled for Bound Four Glory .


    Final Resolution 2010
    Full Metal Mayhem match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship :
    The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) (c) vs. Generation Me (Jeremy Buck and Max Buck)

    Generation Me [better known as Young Bucks ] made their debut in TNA in January 2010 and starred in several great matches against Motor City Machine Guns during that year, the first of which on their debut, on Impact! from January 14th.

    After a few months without appearing as a tag team , Jeremy and Max Buck returned to pay-per-views in September, at No Surrender, to replace the London Brawling (Desmond Wolfe and Magnus) and lose a title match to the Motor City Machine Guns . After the feud, Generation Me attacked the champions and injured Alex Shelley with a DDT .

    On the following episode of Impact! , Generation Me claimed the TNA World Tag Team Championship , claiming that the champions were unable to defend it for 30 days, due to Shelley’s injury, before stealing the belt from Sabin . However, Shelley made his return two weeks later and promised Generation Me a rematch at Bound For Glory .
    At Bound For Glory, Motor City Machine Guns defeated Generation me to retain the TNA World Tag Team Championship .

    However, after MCMG defeated Team 3D at Turning Point in yet another match with the title on the line, Jeremy Buck made the victorious landing on Chris Sabin in an eight-person tag team match in which the Motor City Machine Guns teamed with Jay Lethal and Velvet Sky and Generation Me teamed up with Robbie E and Cookie during Impact! from November 18th.

    That same night, Motor City Machine Guns beat Generation Me in an Empty Arena match.
    Even so, a Full Metal Mayhem match was scheduled between the two teams for Final Resolution.


    Bound For Glory 2011; Full Metal Mayhem match
    Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn

    On the June 23, 2011 episode of Impact , Rob Van Dam stated during a backstage segment that he was X Division before the X Division existed , referring to his time spent in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).

    His long-time rival and X Division pioneer , Jerry Lynn , abruptly appeared and told RVD that they were the two who made this style of wrestling famous. This led to another match between the two at Destination X, with Van Dam winning after a Five-Star Frog Splash .
    The following month, Lynn accompanied RVD to his matches. On August 8, at Hardcore Justice, at a time when RVD was second in the Bound for Glory Series rankings and facing first place, Crimson, Lynn attacked Crimson and caused a disqualification loss to RVD, which thus dropped several places in the ranking. ranking .

    Ten days later, on Impact , a similar situation happened, this time in a match between RVD and AJ Styles , with Lynn costing his old rival the defeat. On the September 1 episode, Lynn cost RVD again in a match against Gunner. The following week, Lynn explained that he was tired of being in Rob Van Dam’s shadow, which led to a match between the two at Bound For Glory .


    Impact Wrestling (October 8, 2014)
    Full Metal Mayhem match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship :

    At Hardcore Justice 2014, Kurt Angle announced that the Wolves, the Hardys and Team 3D would face each other in a three-match series, with the winner of the first match getting to choose the stipulation for the next match.

    In the first match between the three teams, on the August 27 episode of Impact Wrestling , Team 3D won and decided that the next match would be a tables match , which was won by the Hardys on the September 10 episode. In turn, the Hardys decided that the next match would be a ladder match , and it was announced that this third match would take place at the No Surrender event, with the Wolves’ TNA World Tag Team Championship on the line.

    After a victory for each team in the series of three matches concluded at the No Surrender event, with the Wolves winning this third contest, a tiebreaker was announced for the October 8 episode of Impact Wrestling , again with TNA World Wolves Tag Team Championship at stake, but this time in a Full Metal Mayhem match.


    Slammiversary 2016 – Full Metal Mayhem match:
    Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy

    On the January 26, 2016 episode of Impact , Jeff Hardy challenged his brother Matt to a match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship , but the match never started, as Jeff was brutally attacked by Eric Young and Bram.

    Jeff Hardy only returned to action more than a month and a half later, on March 15, having beaten Eric Young to face Matt Hardy and Ethan Carter III in the main event of that episode of Impact Wrestling for the world title , but the title match ended in a no contest after interference from Young and Bram.

    A week later, Jeff won a gauntlet match to determine the top contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship , by eliminating his brother Matt in last place.
    On the March 29 episode, Jeff faced world champion Drew Galloway in a title match, but was defeated.

    Two weeks later, Jeff confronted his brother Matt, after Matt declared that Jeff was not worthy of the nickname Hardy. Matt challenged Jeff to an “I Quit” match for the following week, but Jeff demanded to face his brother in a Full Metal Mayhem match.
    In a match to determine the stipulation, Matt Hardy and Tyrus beat Jeff Hardy and Drew Galloway, which led to the scheduling of an “I Quit” match for the following week. And the “I Quit” match ended in a no contest after both brothers refused to give up.

    On the May 10 episode, Jeff Hardy and James Storm lost a TNA World Tag Team Championship match to Decay ( Abyss and Crazzy Steve) after a masked Willow man ( Jeff Hardy ‘s alter-ego ) distracted Jeff . After the match, Jeff went backstage to look for Willow’s masked man, only to be attacked by three people dressed as Willow.
    A week later, Matt Hardy introduced himself as Broken Matt and revealed that he was one of Willow’s masked men who attacked Jeff Hardy .

    On the May 24 episode, Jeff Hardy defeated Rockstar Spud and Tyrus to face his brother in a Full Metal Mayhem match.


    Rebellion 2019
    Full Metal Mayhem match for the Impact World Tag Team Championship :
    The Lucha Bros (Fénix and Pentagón Jr.) (c) vs. The Latin American Xchange (Ortiz and Santana)

    Champions since the April 26, 2018 episode of Impact! , The Latin American Xchange successfully defended the Impact World Tag Team Championship , for example against The OGz (Hernandez and Homicide) at Slammiversary XVI .
    However, ahead they found the Lucha Bros, who had recently started working for Impact Wrestling. Up until Homecoming , the two duos were revealed to have great respect for each other.

    At Bound For Glory 2021, Moose won the Call Your Shot Gauntlet and received a trophy he could use to challenge for a title of his choosing whenever he wanted. And Moose chose to use the trophy that same night, facing and defeating a Josh Alexander who had just beaten Christian Cage and became world champion .

    However, on the November 11 episode of Impact! , Eddie Edwards beat Matt Cardona and W. Morrissey to become the top contender for the Impact World Championship .
    A week later, Moose attacked Edwards while he was giving an interview backstage, leading to a brawl between the two across the arena, with both resorting to various weapons. Against this backdrop, Impact Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore announced that the title match between Moose and Edwards would be a Full Metal Mayhem match.
