Implemented in 2005, at a time when Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) was beginning to hold monthly pay-per-views, No Surrender was held in July for its inaugural edition, but between 2006 and 2014 it took place in September and, after having passed through August (2015) and December (2019), it has stabilized in February since 2021.

    However, only between 2005 and 2012 was it carried out as a premium event. Between 2013 and 2015 it was held as a special episode of Impact! and in 2019 and since 2021 it functions as a special event, broadcast exclusively on Impact Plus and YouTube.

    No Surrender 2005
    Samoa Joe vs. Chris Sabin

    In his TNA debut, Samoa Joe easily defeated Sonjay Dutt at Slammiversary 2005. Five days later, on Impact! on June 24, he beat Delirious.
    On the July 8 episode, Joe appeared after Chris Sabin ‘s victory over David Young to attack and apply a submission on Sabin . That same night, The Samoan Submission Machine defeated Elix Skipper and Shark Boy in a triple threat match.

    The following week, Sabin interfered in a match between Team Canada ( Petey Willams and Eric Young) and the duo consisting of Joe and Christopher Daniels., attacking Joe , with whom he went to fight backstage, which led to a match between the two being scheduled for No Surrender.


    No Surrender 2005
    AJ Styles vs. Sean Waltman ( Jerry Lynn as guest referee)

    At the previous pay-per-view , Slammiversary , AJ Styles defended the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a King of the Mountain match against Raven, Abyss , Monty Brown and Sean Waltman. Styles and Waltman created an alliance during the match, perhaps because they had similar styles, but Waltman ended up betraying Styles , costing him the title, which would be won by Raven.

    However, Styles and Waltman had a confrontation on the July 1 episode of Impact! , which forced Jerry Lynn to break them up.
    A week later, Styles asked NWA authority figure Larry Zbyszko to face Waltman. Zbyszko accepted and scheduled the match for No Surrender, with Jerry Lynn as the guest referee.


    No Surrender 2005 : TNA X Division Championship
    Christopher Daniels (c) vs. Petey Williams

    Champion since Destination X, in March 2005, Christopher Daniels said during Impact! on July 1st, he had already defended the title against the best Mexican luchador , Shocker, and the best American wrestlers, Chris Sabin and Michael Shane. That said, Canadian Petey Williams appeared and challenged Daniels to a match for the X Division Championship at the No Surrender pay-per-view and Daniels accepted.


    No Surrender 2006 : Ultimate X match for the NWA World Tag Team Championship

    On the July 20 episode of Impact! , tag team champions AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels issued an open challenge to any team that wanted to face them for the titles. The LAX responded and attacked the titleholders, leaving them bloodied, even signing the contract for the match, to take place at Hard Justice, with Daniels ‘ blood . At Hard Justice, Styles and Daniels beat LAX to retain the belts.

    However, the duo of Hernandez and Homicide got the upper hand on the August 24 episode, winning a Border Brawl and capturing the NWA World Tag Team Championship.

    A week later, Styles and Daniels triggered the rematch clause, and an Ultimate X match was scheduled between the two teams for No Surrender.


    No Surrender 2007 : TNA X Division Championship

    The previous pay-per-view, Hard Justice, was marked by a Winner Takes All match between Kurt Angle, who held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and Samoa Joe, who carried the TNA X Division Championship and both TNA World Tag Team Championship belts. Angle got the upper hand, but nearly a month into No Surrender, he was forced to participate in three matches to defend his titles under the TNA umbrella.

    Besides having to defend the TNA World Tag Team Championship alongside Sting against Team Pacman (Adam “Pacman” Jones and Ron Killings) and the World Heavyweight Championship to Abyss, Kurt Angle had to place the TNA X Division Championship in a match against Jay Lethal, who defeated Christopher Daniels on the August 16 episode of Impact! in a match to determine the top contender for the title.


    No Surrender 2010 : TNA World Championship Tournament Semifinal
    Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy

    On the August 19, 2010 episode of Impact! , the TNA World Heavyweight Championship was declared vacant after champion Rob Van Dam was injured by Abyss .

    To determine the new champion, an eight-man tournament was held. In the quarterfinals, whose fights took place in episodes of Impact!, Jeff Hardy beat Rob Terry; while Kurt Angle, who had returned from a sabbatical and promised that he would retire if he lost a match, defeated Douglas Williams, thus scheduling a duel between Hardy and Angle for the semifinal, scheduled for No Surrender.
    At the same time, Mr. Anderson and D’Angelo Dinero had a fight scheduled for the same event, in the other semifinal.


    No Surrender 2012 : TNA World Tag Team Championship

    In April, Daniels and Kazarian began threatening that they would expose Styles ‘ secret if he didn’t reveal it. The following month, and since Styles said nothing, Kazarian and Daniels revealed an alleged romantic relationship between the Phenomenal One and TNA President Dixie Carter through the use of private footage and photographs.

    At Sacrifice, Styles was defeated by Kurt Angle via submission and after Kazarian and Daniels attacked the match. However, Angle saved Styles. On the May 17 episode of Impact Wrestling, Styles won the Open Fight Night Qualifier Battle Royal which gave him the right to fight for a title of his choice. After the match, Styles declared that his relationship with Dixie was strictly professional and that each had their own marriage. Still, Daniels intervened and stated that the relationship between the two exceeded the professional relationship since a video showed both together in a hotel. .

    The following week, Styles challenged Bobby Roode for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship but was not focused and was defeated.
    A week later, Styles beat Daniels, but after the match, he was attacked by Daniels and Kazarian. However, Angle returned to save Phenomenal One, and it was announced that the four would face each other in a tag team title match at Slammiversary.
    At Slammiversary, Kurt Angle and AJ Styles won the titles in a victory over Bad Influence, who were the champions. However, Daniels and Kazarian regained the belts, at a time when they were blackmailing Styles with a story that he had impregnated a woman named Claire Lynche.

    Impact Wrestling: No Surrender 2013 : Semifinal of the Bound for Glory Series

    On the June 6, 2013 episode of Impact Wrestling , TNA announced a 12-man tournament to determine the top contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship for Bound For Glory , thus continuing the Bound for Glory Series, which had already taken place. in 2011 and 2012.

    AJ Styles , Magnus, Austin Aries , Bobby Roode , Jeff Hardy , Christopher Daniels , Kazarian, Samoa Joe , Mr. Anderson, Joseph Park, Hernandez and Jay Bradley were the participants in the tournament, with wins by settlement worth seven points, by countout five points, by disqualification three points, while draws gave two points to each fighter and losses by disqualification cost the loss of ten points.

    In the semifinals of the Bound For Glory Series, AJ Styles beat Austin Aries, while Magnus defeated Bobby Roode, which led to a match between the Phenomenal One and the British in the final of the tournament.


    No Surrender 2014 : Ladder match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship :
    The Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) (c) vs. The Hardys (Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy) vs. Team 3D (Bully Ray and Devon)

    At Hardcore Justice 2014, Kurt Angle announced that the Wolves, the Hardys and Team 3D would face each other in a three-match series, with the winner of the first match getting to choose the stipulation for the next match.

    In the first match between the three teams, on the August 27 episode of Impact Wrestling, Team 3D won and decided that the next match would be a tables match .

    On the September 10, 2014 episode of Impact! , the Hardys won the second match of the three-match series, a tables match, and decided that the next match would be a ladder match, it having been announced that this third match would take place at the No Surrender event, with the Wolves’ TNA World Tag Team Championship on the line.
