I am opening the House of Horrors once again folks! This time, as we take you on this current tour, I bring to you my most anticipated horror in 2023. Sure, this is coming out in May and there are a couple that have already come out, but that doesn’t take away that I was and am looking forward to all of these movies. Take a deep breath, grab your stuffie or whatever you use to cuddle, and get ready for these ten movies coming out this year.

    10. Saw X | Horror in 2023

Now, there are a lot of ups and downs when it comes to the Saw roller coaster, but that doesn’t diminish that it’s one of the most successful horror franchises in history. There’s the main series, the Spiral film and now a upcoming Saw X. I’m not exactly the biggest fan of extreme gore/torture porn films like Saw but ususally the films do tell an interesting story and that’s why I enjoy them. This isn’t gonna top my list, at all, but there is a decent chance that the film is at least somewhat good.

    Expected Release: October 27

    9. There’s Something Wrong with the Children | Horror in 2023

Children in horror movies are, bluntly, creepy as fuck. After watching this film, that belief is completely solidified. This film starts kind of wholesome and then dives off the deep end into the creepy and weird. It’s a solid film, one of the best creepy kid films that I’ve seen in a while. There’s gonna be some stiff competition coming out later this year, which I’ll mention later, but it was a really good movie in my opinion. Check it out if you can.

    Released: January 17, 2023

    8. Salem’s Lot | Horror in 2023

One of the best Stephen King films of all time, Salem’s Lot, is getting a remake later this year and I cannot be more excited. Sure, this ranks 8th on my list today but that doesn’t diminish how much this remake was needed. As good as the original is, it is horribly dated now and doesn’t have the same impact as it once did. I have high hopes for this remake but Hollywood does tend to screw the pooch when it comes to remakes. Take my excitement with a grain of salt folks, this film could be excellent of it can be another dud.

    Expected Release: TBA

    7. Insidious: Fear the Dark | Horror in 2023

Another highly successful franchise sees a new film to be released this year in Insidious. Personally, I wasn’t the biggest Insidious fan. The films were solid, don’t get me wrong, but they lacked something for me and I can’t really explain why. That shouldn’t diminish fans excitement for what should be another successful entry into the Insidious franchise.

    Expected Release: July 7

    6. M3GAN | Horror in 2023

Child’s Play and Puppetmaster have proven that killer dolls can bring a lot of money to production companies. Both are successful enough that they are still creating movies/tv shows more than 20 years after their debut. With that said, M3GAN is different in that the doll is technically an AI, but that doesn’t take anything away from this completely awesome film. I thoroughly enjoyed M3GAN and it’s one of my favorite killer doll movies. There’s some really good comedy mixed in and the titular M3GAN is a creepy AI. Check this one out folks.

    Released: January 6, 2023

    5. Children of the Corn | Horror in 2023

One of my personal favorite film series sees a new entry coming early this year with Children of the Corn. Yes, like Saw and Halloween, CotC has a lot of ups and downs in the series but for the most part I have thoroughly enjoyed the franchise. With the current look of this film, this is going to be one of the best films in this long franchise and I cannot freaking wait. The trailer is amazing, the film looks creepy as hell and I really hope it doesn’t disappoint me.

    Released: March 3, 2023

    4. Cuckoo | Horror in 2023

A film that’s been pretty hush hush so far, Cuckoo has the chance to be one of this years best horror films. With Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer starring in this film, fans have some high expectations for this one. I haven’t even seen a trailer for this one yet but I am equally excited to see it. There’s a fair bit of hype coming in for this one so go check it out come September.

    Expected Release: September 29

    3. Untitled The Exorcist Sequel | Horror in 2023

The original Exorcist film is cinematic gold. It’s one of the most influential horror films of all time, also one of the most successful. It’s still terrifying to this day even if it’s a bit dated, 50 years to be exact. According to the Wiki page, this film will serve as a direct sequel to the 1973 masterpiece and I am insanely excited for this film to be released. I want to see trailers, teasers, anything really. The excitement level for this one, at least for me, is off the charts.

    Expected Release: October 13

    2. Evil Dead Rise | Horror in 2023

The Evil Dead franchise sees it’s 5th entry coming this April with Evil Dead Rise. I am a huge fan of the Evil Dead franchise, it’s one of my absolute favorites with 2013’s Evil Dead being my favorite of the films. Evil Dead Rise seems to be going for a shake-up of the tried and true cabin in the woods formula but that doesn’t diminish my excitement. Sure, I’m disappointed that this isn’t a true sequel to the 2013 film but I still want to see this film and see where the series goes from here.

    Released: April 21, 2023

    1. The Last Voyage of the Demeter | Horror in 2023

Based on a section of the classic Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, The Captain’s Log, The Last Voyage of the Demeter sees strange events befall the crew of the merchant ship known as the Demeter as they are stalked by a dark presence. Anyone who has read the book knows where this is going, but considering that this is based on the actual book and not some random source, this film should be freaking amazing. The Last Voyage of the Demeter is easily my most anticipated film of 2023 and August 11th cannot come fast enough.

    Expected Release: August 11
