Secret Invasion

I’m glad this one has been added to the MCU roster because, alongside Civil War, it’s one of the most crucial storylines in the comics.

    Secret Invasion Marvel

The Secret Invasion storyline sees the Skrulls (those alien shape-shifters from Captain Marvel) infiltrate all aspects of life on Earth.

They’ve been posing as anybody and everybody for many years, meaning our beloved heroes might not be quite what we’ve been led to believe.

Who are the actual superheroes, and who are the imposters?

Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) will be tasked with solving the mystery.

A release date has not yet been set, though we can expect either a late-2022 or a 2023 release.

    Ironheart

There’s Clint Barton to Kate Bishop and Bruce Banner to Jennifer Walters. The Iron Man torch is now being passed on.

Centred on Riri Williams/Ironheart and starring Dominique Thorne, the series was announced by Marvel Studios in December last year.

In the comics, Williams is a 15-year-old engineering student who replicates the Iron Man suit of armour made by Tony Stark and becomes a superheroine.

The arrival of Ironheart on the MCU scene further hints at a Young Avengers project in future – perhaps also featuring Wiccan and Speed (from WandaVision), and Kate Bishop.

    Armor Wars

The penultimate series to be announced thus far sees James Rhodes/War Machine finally get the attention he deserves.

    Marvel Armor Wars

Rhodey has always played second fiddle to Iron Man and the Avengers in the MCU, but now he gets his opportunity in the spotlight.

One of Tony Stark’s greatest fears was seeing his technology fall into the wrong hands. We had a glimpse of that in Iron Man (2008), but Armor Wars delves further into that concept.

Stark’s death will also factor into the series – I mean who is now in control of all of Stark’s tech anyway? – so Rhodey will have his hands pretty full.

    Untitled Wakanda series

Announced only this month, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler has been tapped to develop a drama series set in Wakanda.

    Marvel

The opportunity is there to expand upon the MCU’s most culturally significant storyline, and to tap into Wakanda’s vast potential, and Coogler is the right man to take that forward.

Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa won’t appear (at least in the flesh) for obvious reasons, but any other member of the Wakandan arsenal could well come into play.

There is just so much to play with here.

Which upcoming Marvel series are you looking forward to most?
