Universal Monsters is a series of classic horror films produced by Universal Pictures in the early-to-mid 20th century. These films featured iconic monsters and creatures that have become enduring symbols of the horror genre. The establishment started during the 1920s and arrived at its top during the 1930s and 1940s.
“Universal Monsters is the culmination of a year’s worth of writing, recording, and
perfecting a select group of songs all about the most infamous monsters from classic Hollywood
cinema. Each song was written with the desire to portray each of these monsters in their element,
both thematically and musically speaking. From a windswept Transylvanian castle in “Dracula” to deep
in the Amazon rainforest for “Creature from The Black Lagoon”, every song has its spirit and tale to

The latest release from The Deathtones includes tracks based on and featuring each character from the Universal Monsters franchise. Each track is unique on its own but embodies the traditional horror punk sound. The sound leans more of a traditional sound such as Misfits and Blitzkid, but does not go too heavy of a metal sound.
The Intro of the album opens up with narration and a soundtrack that could be used in a traditional classic horror movie. This leads the EP into a slow and smooth transition to faster-paced tracks.
Out of the 7 track EP, the most stand-out songs are Frankenstein and The Wolfman. The tracks are listener worthy and well polished. The majority of the tracks are very great, and decent instances of some strong horror punk. However, this is a bit of a different sound which we can determined how far the genre has grown.
Horror punk has had a lasting impact on alternative and punk subcultures, and its influence extends beyond music to include fashion, visual arts, and a dedicated fan base that appreciates the genre’s unique blend of horror and punk aesthetics.

The Deathtones were founded in the winter of 2021 by the members of the American
mainstream pop punk act “RadioRiot!” as a horror punk side project. After less than a year,
with The Deathtones’ popularity growing exponentially faster than their previous band,
RadioRiot! quickly took a backseat to this new endeavor. In 2022 the band was signed by UK-based label “We Are Horror Records”, and subsequently released thirty-four songs,
comprising five EPs and a slew of singles. In 2023 The Deathtones released yet more singles
as well as a “greatest hits” album from the previous year, entitled “The American Invasion”.
After going through several financial and personnel changes later in 2023, the band focused
on doing fewer releases but making them better structured and written overall. In January
In 2024, they, along with Dan Phillips of We Are Horror Records started to plan the release of
this latest EP, “Universal Monsters”.
