Pro-Wrestling NOAH: An Introduction to M’s Alliance | Est. 2020 | Masaaki Mochizuki | Naomichi Marufuji | Keiji Mutoh.
M’s Alliance is a faction or unit from Pro-Wrestling NOAH, formed by Masaaki Mochizuki, Naomichi Marufuji, and Keiji Mutoh. The unit debuted on June 20, 2020, with Yuko Miyamoto would join the faction a couple of days later. M’s Alliance is still a young unit in Pro-Wrestling NOAH.
Since January 2020, Marufuji started collaborating with Dragon Gate grappler Masaaki Mochizuki, coming full circle in June. The two created the faction with Keiji Mutoh and later Yuko Miyamoto. The name of M’s Alliance comes from the fact that every individual within the faction has the letter M in their name. Mutoh turned into the main grappler to carry a title to the faction, in the wake of winning the GHC Heavyweight Championship in February 2021.
The Creation of M’s Alliance
In January 2020, Dragon Gate’s Masaaki Mochizuki and Naomichi Marufuji started cooperating with one another, subsequently winning the GHC Tag Team Championship on their first match. A Mochizuki and Marufuji lost the titles to 2020 Global Tag League victors Sugiura-weapon International (El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. furthermore, Rene Dupree) on April 19, around that time Marufuji and Mochizuki started routinely collaborating with Japanese legend Keiji Mutoh.
Marufuji would announce the formation of M’s Alliance on June 20th and two days later Yuko Miyamoto was revealed as the next member subsequently, the faction made his first authority match overcoming Sugiura-gun. The individuals would make an M on their fingers, following the occasion, Marufuji started targeting the GHC Heavyweight Championship, after Marufuji and Mutoh crushed Go Shiozaki and Kaito Kiyomiya with Marufuji defeating Shiozaki by pin on 18th July. Mutoh likewise started a fight with Kioymiya and on 5th August, on the second evening of Departure, Marufuji ineffectively tested Go Shiozaki for the GHC Heavyweight Championship.
NOAH The Chronicle Vol. 3
NOAH The Chronicle Vol. 3, took place five days later. The event took place on 10th August, 2020, at the Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium in Yokohama, Japan. The main event of that PPV was Go Shiozaki vs. Kenoh, the two faced each other in a double title match, this consisted of both the GHC Heavyweight Title and the GHC National Championship while Mutoh defeated Kiyomiya on the same night. On 30th August, M’s Alliance uncovered Masakatsu Funaki, as their new member.
2020 N-1 Victory
N-1 Victory is short for NOAH-One Victory. It is an annual event that was originally known as the Global League till 2018, the round-robin tournament was created by Akira Taue, a former pro-wrestler and former advisor of Pro-Wrestling NOAH. During the 18th September and 11th October events, two individuals from M’s Alliance partook in the 2020 N-1 Victory, Mochizuki, and Marufuji. Mochizuki completed third in his block with a record of two wins in the tournament. While Marufuji completed his block in fourth. They were unable to complete the tournament in the finals.
Masato Tanaka would become a member on January 4, 2021. He would team up with Marufuji and Mutoh. They would have a feud with Go Shiozaki, Hiroshi Hase, and Kaito Kiyomiya however, they would suffer defeat against the three men. This was due to Mutoh’s feud with Go Shiozaki for the GHC Heavyweight Championship.
On 12th February 2021, The Great Mutoh defeated Go Shiozaki for the GHC Heavyweight Championship, allowing him to become the third wrestler to win three key titles. These titles were Pro-Wrestling NOAH’s GHC Heavyweight Championship, New Japan’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and All Japan’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship. Kaito Kiyomiya would then challenge Mutoh to a title match, after his victory yet The Great Mutoh provided no answer to Kiyomiya. Later, 15th February 2021, Mutoh advised that he will be facing Kiyomiya, at the NOAH press conference. He also went over his contract status with NOAH stating he had agreed to two years with the promotion.
The Great Mutoh retained his title at Great Voyage in Fukuoka.
