On December 11, 2021, writer Anne Rice passed away due to complications from a stroke she suffered. Her son Christopher provided the statement below.
Statement:
Anne Rice’s books resounded with enthusiasts of gothic attitude, however with readers who observed an otherworldly component in them or the individuals who related to their topics of detachment and distance. She leaves behind a literary legacy. Inspiring more and more future writers and literature readers to come. She spawned, created, and evolved the vampire into something beautiful. Helping pull the vampire genre to the next generation, versus something monstrous.
