BRAY WYATT
Bray Wyatt has proved in record time that he is worthy of main event status for the rest of his career. His eerie promos have led him to a status where he is more character than wrestler.
For the most part it is shockingly similar to back in 2009/2010 when CM Punk ran the Straight Edge Society. Both are cultish figures who have the charisma to possess others and make them follow their lead.
Wyatt’s promo style is one of the best that has passed through WWE in years. It’s fresh and the way he talks makes you think you’re watching a movie rather than watching wrestling.
Wyatt employs a much different style to Punk’s promo work that he did when he was at his peak, but both should be considered to be in the top 3 during their respective times. In 2011, Punk’s work on the microphone was unparalleled. Nobody had heard the stuff he was saying in almost 10 years, since the days of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Both men back up what they say on the mic with what they can do in the ring. Wyatt and Punk should be considered innovators of the game. Punk came in and made much larger men bow down to his technicality. Wyatt has shown that even if you don’t have washboard abs and a body carved out of stone to show how tough you are. For a guy of his size, Wyatt moves at incredible speed as well.
It is obvious that Wyatt will be a main event player for years to come. After a feud with John Cena it is usually sink or swim for most superstars. You either find a way to stay relevant or you drop down into the mid-card. Jericho saved him.
Also, quick SES/Wyatt Family comparison – doesn’t Erick Rowan remind you guys of Luke Gallows?
