On Saturday morning, just before his match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed World Championship at WWE Backlash live from Lyon, France, The Phenomenal AJ Styles gave us his thoughts on Cody Rhodes and their upcoming match, but also what it means to him to be a “dream match” for so much wrestlers.
At WWE Backlash France 2024, AJ Styles challenged Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship. This historic event took place in Lyon, marking WWE’s first major event in France. The match was intense and featured several high points, including Cody putting Styles through the broadcast table and executing a top-rope Cody Cutter. Despite Styles’ efforts, Cody retained his title after hitting Styles with a Cross Rhodes.
Other highlights from the event included:
- Damian Priest vs. Jey Uso: Damian Priest retained the World Heavyweight Championship in a hard-fought match that involved interference from Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh.
- Bayley vs. Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton: Bayley successfully defended her WWE Women’s Championship in a Triple Threat match.
- Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill vs. The Kabuki Warriors: Belair and Cargill won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, which was the only title change of the night.
- The Bloodline vs. Randy Orton & Kevin Owens: In a chaotic Street Fight, The Bloodline emerged victorious with help from Tanga Loa, who made his WWE debut during the match.
Overall, WWE Backlash France 2024 was a memorable event with strong performances and an enthusiastic crowd that added to the event’s excitement.
