Lower-league footballing legend (yeah, we said it) Adebayo Akinfenwa admitted to Four Four Two that he has held talks with WWE about joining the company post-football career.
In an interview with Ed McCambridge, the 38-year-old Wycombe Wanderers striker said: “I sat down with the chiefs at WWE about a year ago. They wanted to know if I was going to continue playing football. I said I was and I’d let them know when I hang up my boots so that’s in the pipeline still. Me and my kids are huge wrestling fans and we went to an event here in the UK and met some of the wrestlers after. The WWE people sat down with my people and we talked about doing something together.”
Asked who he would like to chokeslam, he admitted: “Which footballers have done me dirty recently? No, I’m just messing. I actually think it’s one of those where you want to test your strength. Since Lukaku went to Inter he’s been looking very strong, he’s moving powerfully. Virgil van Dijk, as well, another big boy. I think we may need to have a Royal Rumble with those boys and a few others. Last man standing, let’s go!”
